Superior High School Volleyball hosted their annual Dig Pink/Diggin’ for a Cure fundraising game on Tuesday, October 3. The gymnasium was filled with local fans as they played Duluth East. It was an exciting game. Everyone in attendance made it an incredible night by demonstrating support for people battling breast cancer, and the importance of awareness, prevention and education about the disease.

Through a silent auction, raffle baskets, bake sale and t-shirt sales, the Superior Spartan Volleyball team raised $8,138 for St. Luke’s Regional Cancer Center. These funds assist patients by providing wigs, scarves, hats, gas cards, grocery cards, chemo care bags (containing special comforts and supplies), support groups and classes at no cost.

Superior High School Volleyball Team Captain, Carlie Lohman said, “Our team is proud to support patients battling this disease and directly touch the lives of local families.”

Catherine Carter Huber, Executive Director of St. Luke’s Foundation, is grateful for this generous donation.

“A breast cancer diagnosis is life-altering, but through philanthropic events like this, St. Luke’s is able to provide patients additional comfort, services and unique support that wouldn’t otherwise be available,” she said.
