Philosophy of Care
Genetics are a very personal field of medicine. Your DNA provides the blueprint for everything about you. It is my belief that genetics provide the foundation for the future of medicine and using genetics in healthcare should be handled respectfully.
Why Delaney went into medicine
To me, genetics is a fascinating field of study because it provides answers to age-old questions about biology and human health while creating even more unanswered questions. It's a puzzle that will never be solved, at least in our lifetime. I chose to go into genetic counseling because it combines complex science with the human aspect of counseling. It is my job to translate advanced genetic topics into meaningful information for patients, while also helping individuals and families cope with life-changing news.
Favorite advice to give to patients
My favorite advice to give to patients is letting them know there is no such thing as a silly question. I encourage patients to ask questions whether in consultation with me or their physician. Patients should always feel empowered to ask questions about their own health.
