St. Luke’s Infectious Disease Associates
St. Luke’s Infectious Disease Associates consists of two infectious disease physicians and one nurse practitioner. Infectious disease physicians diagnose and treat infections caused by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Infectious disease physicians are like medical detectives who examine difficult cases to identify the culprit and solve the problem. They work on a consult basis with other physicians to determine which diagnostic tests and treatments are most appropriate. Patients are seen in the office and hospital setting. Treatments often consist of antibiotic medications given orally or intravenously to help battle the infection. Treatment plans for outpatient care are formulated in cooperation with primary care providers and home health agencies. Often patients are seen in follow-up to allow the specialist to check on progress, confirm that the infection is gone, and help prevent it from coming back.
Philosophy of Care
We understand the confusion, fear and frustration that can accompany an infection. That is why we believe it is essential that each person receive our full attention as well as our clinical expertise.
Conditions and Treatments
Infectious Disease Associates provides primary care to people with chronic life-threatening infections such as HIV/AIDS. We work with public agencies like Minnesota Aids Project and the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin to provide comprehensive care for this patient population.
