Cardiac Rehabilitation

A helping hand for your heart’s recovery

Aspirus St. Luke's offers several rehabilitation programs to help patients recover from a heart attack, surgery or other cardiac event.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

With your active participation, our experienced team helps you recover. We are with you one-on-one, tailoring the recovery plan to restore your strength and independence.

Staffed by Aspirus St. Luke's exercise physiologists, dietitians, nurses and psychologists, the program offers:

  • Medical assessment, goal-setting and education
  • Nutritional counseling and weight management
  • Inpatient monitored aerobic exercise and strength training
  • Outpatient monitored exercise and education
  • Stress management training
  • Smoking cessation support
  • Support groups

Physician referral required. Most insurances and Medicare will cover the cost of the program based on a physician's order. Please contact your health insurance provider for coverage information. To learn more, call 218.249.5167.

Professionally Assisted Customized Exercise (PACE)

The Professionally Assisted Customized Exercise (PACE) program is a self-monitored, medically supervised exercise program for independently functioning adults with chronic cardiac conditions to improve and maintain their heart health. Participants meet at Aspirus St. Luke's Cardio-Pulmonary Gym for one hour up to five times per week. Our state-of-the-art equipment keeps you engaged and can help you see results. To qualify for the PACE program, patients typically have one or more of the following conditions or needs:

  • Chronic medical conditions
  • Depression
  • Diabetes
  • Heart failure
  • Osteoporosis
  • Pacemaker
  • Peripheral artery disease (PAD)
  • Post-cancer recovery needs
  • Weight management goals

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

Aspirus St. Luke's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is designed for patients with chronic lung disease, including moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), non-COPD, restrictive lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis. A team of respiratory therapists, exercise physiologists, dietitians, psychologists and registered nurses helps patients learn to perform daily tasks without experiencing shortness of breath. The program includes:

  • 24 sessions over 12 weeks
  • Disease management information and education
  • Customized nutrition and exercise plan
  • Stress reduction
  • Medication management

Participants meet for two hours twice a week at Aspirus St. Luke's Cardio-Pulmonary Gym.
