Community and EMS Partnerships
Working together to respond faster
At Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital and Lake View Hospital, we greatly value the relationships we have with our local EMS teams. We depend on the skills, experience and dedication of first responders, paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement and EMS professionals who perform lifesaving interventions at the trauma scene and during transport.
Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital’s New Emergency Department
When were desiging our Emergency Department (ED) in Duluth, we asked for input from EMS teams. Now that it’s finished, we're excited to share the new space with them. We look forward to working with all our EMS teams in our new ED and, as always, are extremely grateful for everything they do to help care for our patients.
Watch the below video tour with Aspirus St. Luke's Emergency Physician Dr. Christopher Delp to learn about the features that specifically apply to EMS personnel and to get a sense of this brand new area.

National EMS programs and organizations
Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital Emergency Department and
Lake View Hospital’s Emergency Department are active in national programs that require us to uphold benchmarks and
report data on trauma cases so we can compare ourselves to other health
systems and improve our performance. These programs also provide access
to national data used to improve patient outcomes throughout the nation
and develop innovative treatments and therapies.
Between the two emergency departments, these national programs and organizations include:
- Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP)
- American College of Surgeons (ACS)
- Trauma Registry (Trauma registry data reported to the state and National Trauma Database to further development of trauma care)
