Q Care Clinics: Quick, Easy and Convenient

Lindsay Johnson, NP at St. Luke's Q CareHaving a sick child is never easy—and, let’s face it, kids get sick a lot. Tyler Kimber, a father and fan of St. Luke’s Q Care Express Clinic says, “I have a five-year-old and a two-year-old. Right now, both go to daycares and are constantly around other little kids who are sick.” Illness is an inevitable part of childhood and having as much convenience as possible when bringing a sick child to the doctor is invaluable.

Aspirus St. Luke's Q Care Express Clinics are walk-in medical clinics staffed by physician assistants and nurse practitioners who provide convenient care for minor health concerns. “We treat urinary tract infections, strep throat, influenza, mono, pink eye, ear infections and more. You don’t even have to be a St. Luke’s patient to be seen here” explains Lindsay Johnson, a family nurse practitioner at St. Luke’s Q Care Express Clinic at Mount Royal Medical Clinic.

“Both of my kids have been treated at Q Care,” says Kimber. “We were concerned that our older child had strep throat so we took her to Q Care and they gave her a rapid strep test. We took our youngest to Q Care when she had a high fever. In the past, we had been told that fevers would work themselves out of the system, but we wanted to make sure this was the case. Q Care was a quick, easy and convenient option.”

St. Luke’s Q Care Express Clinics are located inside Cub Foods and another location recently opened at Aspirus St. Luke's Mount Royal Medical Clinic. “St. Luke’s is dedicated to making healthcare accessible to people in our community so that’s why we’re expanding,” explains Johnson. St. Luke’s Q Care Express Clinics are open seven days a week from 8 am to 6 pm. “I was so excited when the Q Care Express Clinic opened at Mount Royal. It’s right in my neighborhood, making it a convenient option,” says Kimber.

“My daughters feel very comfortable at Q Care and the staff is great with kids,” explains Kimber. “At the Cub location, they are just going to the grocery store and the Mount Royal location has a great play area for kids.”

“Although we see patients of all ages, the majority of our patients at Q Care are kids,” Johnson explains. “I personally like to have fun with the children who are seen here so that they know coming to a health care provider can be an enjoyable experience.”

Between school, work and taking care of the rest of the family, time is always a factor. “Q Care is very beneficial to families,” Johnson explains. “We have convenient hours before and after school and work and on the weekends, and because the visits are quick, parents are in and out of the clinic.”

The typical Q Care visit can last anywhere between 10 and 45 minutes, depending on what is being treated and how many patients are in the clinic. “I went early in the morning, and was one of the first people there. It almost took longer to fill out the paperwork than waiting to be seen by a practitioner,” joked Kimber. “It took less than 45 minutes to do everything.”

At St. Luke’s Q Care Express Clinics, patients receive the outstanding care they deserve. “I love being able to spend one-on-one time with patients, even if it is brief,” says Johnson. “St. Luke’s truly is about the patient above all else and we provide convenient and high-quality care in the fast-paced environment of Q Care.”
