WHEN: Thursday, June 22, 2017
WHERE: St. Luke’s Breast Center, first floor of St. Luke’s Hospital, 915 East First Street, Duluth, MN
TIME: 2-4 p.m., Ribbon cutting followed by an open house
WHO: John Strange, St. Luke’s President/CEO, Dr. Kerri Harting, St. Luke’s Breast Specialist Radiologist, David Ross, Duluth Chamber of Commerce President/CEO
WHAT: St. Luke’s is celebrating the arrival of the most advanced mammogram technology available with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at its Breast Center. St. Luke’s Breast Center now has two Tomosynthesis, or 3D mammography machines. Tomosynthesis feels almost identical to the standard 2D mammogram; there’s no noticeable difference in compression time. It creates images of breast tissue in layers rather than traditional two-dimensional images. This option allows the radiologist to view breast tissue one millimeter at a time, similar to flipping through pages in a book.
