Aspirus St. Luke's Celebrates Arrival of New Birthing Center
St. Luke’s is celebrating a special delivery; a brand new birthing center.
The $1.8 million Birthing Center remodeling project began in February 2016 and was recently completed. There are 15 new birthing suites. Plus, a new family waiting room, kitchenette, AfterCare Clinic and family bathroom. One great aspect of the remodel is that it eliminated shared patient bathrooms. The new Birthing Center features a new nurse call system for enhanced quietness, deep tubs for laboring and a modern look to match the state-of the art care patients receive.
“It’s great to see the transformation this area has undergone and experience the change,” Maternal Child Health Nurse Manager Lori Swanson, RN, PHN, said. “It was really important to us to make sure we got this new space right for our patients. We really want them to know we’ve done everything we could do give them the best birthing experience possible.”
The remodel will feature one final phase. In the coming months work will begin on a remodel of the Level II Specialized Care Nursery. This nursery allows St. Luke’s nurses and doctors to care for patients in need of more serious care.
A public open house will be hosted at St. Luke’s on Wednesday, September 27 from 1:30-5:30 p.m. You can stop in the hospital’s main lobby at 915 East First Street to check out a resource fair and then join a guided tour of the Birthing Center.
