St. Luke's Northern Lakes Surgery CenterSt. Luke’s and Gateway Clinic are partnering on a multi-million dollar project that will bring more healthcare resources to people who live in the Moose Lake area.

Wednesday, October 13, they announced a partnership to build Northern Lakes Surgery Center. It will be located in the former Shopko building at 4791 Co. Road 10 in Moose Lake. The building is 25,000 square feet. The surgery center will use approximately 9,000 square feet, with the additional footage anticipated for additional tenants in the future.

Gateway Clinic has clinics in Moose Lake, Hinckley and Sandstone. “They are a highly respected physician group, and we look forward to growing our relationship with them,” said St. Luke’s Co-President/CEO & CMO, Nick Van Deelen, MD. “We see this as a great opportunity and are excited to expand our presence in the community.”

Currently, St. Luke’s partners with Gateway Family Health Clinic, with several St. Luke’s specialty physicians in cardiology, gynecology, neurosurgery, urology, vascular surgery and audiology seeing patients in Gateway Clinics.

“We believe this will be an incredible new option for outpatient surgical and procedural care for residents of the Moose Lake area,” Gateway Clinic, Eric Nielsen, MBA, CMPE, said. “It will allow people to stay close to home. We want to create options and opportunities for Moose Lake area residents that will allow everyone in the community to thrive.”

Not only will Northern Lakes Surgery Center create new choices for residents in the community, it will be more economical. It will save healthcare dollars for both patients and employers who offer medical insurance.

DSGW Architects is designing the new surgery center. Along with construction jobs, the surgery center will bring more patient care jobs to the community.

Northern Lakes Surgery Center is set to open next summer.
