Aspirus St. Luke's Earns National Recognition for High-Quality Heart Attack & Stroke Care
St. Luke’s is honored to have earned national awards for heart attack and stroke care from the American Heart Association (AHA).
St. Luke’s received a 2023 Mission: Lifeline NSTEMI Gold Quality Achievement Award, and a 2023 Get with the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Targeting Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Targeting Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll Award.
St. Luke’s earned the awards for its commitment to ensuring heart attack and stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines. That care ultimately led to more saved lives and reduced disability.
“Our cardiology team improves patient care through its commitment to the latest treatment guidelines,” Dr. Scott Mikesell, medical director of St. Luke’s Cardiac Cath Labs said. “We put these guidelines to work daily to ensure our patients experience longer, healthier lives.”
Every 40 seconds, someone in the United States has a stroke or heart attack. Heart disease and stroke are the number one and number five causes of death in the United States respectively. Studies show patients can recover better when providers consistently follow treatment guidelines.
