Philosophy of care
An important aspect of being a physician is to be a teacher. I try to embody this philosophy as I educate my patients on their condition and treatment plan so they are well-informed and better able to care for themselves and their family.
Why Dr. Ryden went into medicine
I was drawn to family medicine because of the continuity of care and the relationships I develop with patients. I enjoy treating the entire age spectrum from children to elderly patients.
Favorite advice to give to patients
Practice good nutrition and remain physically active. These two components are key in living a healthy and balanced life. Seek out physical activities you enjoy. This will help you stay motivated to continue.
Hobbies
Me and my wife, Kirsten, appreciate the outdoor lifestyle northern Minnesota offers. In the summertime, I enjoy canoeing, hiking and spending time on Lake Vermilion with my family. I also enjoy learning foreign languages, and occasionally I find the opportunity to use my knowledge of Spanish or Norwegian in the clinic.
Something you may not know about Dr. Ryden is he is a talented musician. He enjoys making music with his sons (both of whom play guitar, piano and violin) and attending concerts with Kirsten.
Awards
